from a magazine, you can take ideas of anouther magazine and use them in your own, such as the colour scheme, or the way it is layed out.
These magazines are targeted at the same age as i am targeting at, Billboard features the Pop genre, they will feature artists that are well known, such as Lilly Allen.

I will take insperation from this magazines. i like the pale backgrounds and the expressions on the models.
I prefer the layout on the Q magazine, it features a left hand third and it is simplistic and i feel that it stands out.
